Jiggers is a superbly presented cottage, offering the perfect holiday accommodation for couples and families. It is centrally located, but in a quiet location, very close to Corfe Castle and the picturesque village square with its selection of shops, pubs, tea rooms and the Swanage Steam Railway.
Jiggers was built in the 1680s from the ruins of Corfe Castle. It is one of the earliest cottages to have been built on West Street. Originally the Purbeck stone outbuilding in the garden was the Blacksmiths and the front room of the cottage was the stables where the animals were kept overnight. The hooks in the lounge ceiling historically were used to hang the straw and hay bales for the animals to feed.
Jiggers was extended in the early 1970s to create a country cottage kitchen/dining room which has recently been updated and modified with modern appliances.
The front door opens into a large hallway which has an exposed Purbeck stone wall ample space for leaving coats, muddy boots or sandy flip flops, after an amazing day out. There are doors leading in to the sitting room, up to the bedrooms and out to the rear garden. The inviting sitting room is surprisingly spacious and tastefully furnished, with comfortable sofas, a Smart TV with apps for streaming, and provides a relaxing and cosy atmosphere. From the sitting room there is a door to a cloakroom with W.C. and wash hand basin and a door leads into the well-equipped, kitchen/dining room. With a range of units, dishwasher, gas double oven with integrated grill and gas hob, large fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and a dining table with 6 chairs. This room is delightful and light, with doors and windows overlooking the wonderful garden.
Upstairs, the delightful main bedroom is bright with lovely views out to the rear garden. It has a king size bed, fitted wardrobes and en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower cubicle with overhead diverter shower, wash hand basin and W.C.
There is an equally attractive second bedroom with a large bed, fitted wardrobes, and an appealing third bedroom with two single beds.
The main bathroom has a bath, W.C. and wash hand basin. The bath has a shower mixer tap.
From the kitchen and hallway, doors lead out to the wonderful, well established, secluded and peaceful garden perfect for all seasons. Offering a high degree of privacy, you step out from the kitchen’s French doors onto the flagstone patio where you can enjoy a peaceful breakfast or sit and relax after an adventurous day exploring the beautiful area. Wander up the sweeping curved Purbeck stone steps to the tranquil lawn area, where you can catch the sun all day long in the summer months, and have a lovely view of the historic church.
For those steam train enthusiasts, the distant sound of the whistle of the steam train will transport our guests back to the “good ol days of steam” adding a nostalgic feel to your stay.
Jiggers is an impressive cottage, centrally located on West Street, just a short stroll to the village. A permit is provided to allow one car free parking in the West Street car park, which is a short stroll from the cottage. There is restricted parking on the road in front of the cottage, where you may be able to park to unload your vehicle. Jiggers is the perfect base for a holiday in this stunning area, it is within easy reach of the delightful countryside of the Isle of Purbeck, and only a short drive to some of the best beaches and various nearby attractions.

We had a lovely week in Jiggers. Everything was clean and well-presented and the cottage is perfectly situated and well-appointed. We were very comfortable and wished the weather had been warm enough to enjoy the pleasant garden. Thanks again for providing us with yet another excellent cottage.
We spent a lovely few days holiday in late June in the wonderfully picturesque “Jiggers” cottage, located in the prettiest street of this beautiful historical village. The cottage was delightful inside and out. Surprisingly spacious, it was comfortable, tastefully decorated, impeccably clean, and thoughtfully equipped. Lovely, light bedrooms upstairs with comfy beds and good quality linen. It was a joy to be able to eat outside in the beautiful tranquil garden with the birds singing. We had everything we could want on our doorstep, Great village pubs/restaurants, a bakery, a small but well-stocked general store, and some really nice little original craft-y shops. The Castle is at one of the street, while from the other end you can walk straight out onto the common and surrounding meadows. There’s also a nice children’s playground. The check-in/check-out with Corfe and Purbeck Holidays was very smooth. And the parking permit was very convenient. We’ll be back!
We really enjoyed our stay at Jiggers. We stayed there 18 years ago when we regularly used Corfe Castle Holidays for holidays with our children when they were younger. The cottage has been refurbished since then and offers a clean and comfortable place to stay in an excellent location in the picturesque village of Corfe Castle. The garden was a real asset as we were blessed with good weather and had breakfast outside every morning. The parking space in the village car park was a bonus too. The location of the cottage is excellent to walk from, one of the best is to Swanage over nine barrow down and the steam train or bus back. The village has a well stocked shop, a fabulous bakery and great pubs as well as the Castle and National Trust shop and cafe and model village. We found the Fox Inn across the road from the cottage was our favourite pub with friendly staff, excellent food and wonderful views from the beer garden. Great walks to Old Harry Rock's, Durlston Country park in Swanage to Dancing Ledge, StAldhems head with Square and Compass pub or tea rooms in Worth Matravers worth a visit. From the cottage you can walk to Kingston over Corfe common and enjoy refreshments at the Scotts Arms pub with fabulous views back to Corfe. All in all a wonderful place to stay and we would definitely return.
Lovely clean cottage in the village centre, we loved being able to walk to and from dinner in the local pubs (which we tried them all and were fantastic!). It makes a great base for exploring. Our dog also loved every second and no one wanted to get in the car too come home.
Visiting Dorset to be with family, walk and bird, we found Jiggers in Corfe Castle an ideal base. The newly renovated house is spacious, comfy, well-equipped (including bird guide!) and decorated in a restful, unfussy, modern style. We took special pleasure in the sizable garden visited by many delightful birds. It is well located for great walks and the nearby RSPB Arne bird sanctuary warranted a second visit as it is environmentally rich with exceptional bird life, especially waders. As Jiggers is right in the village we could simply step out to the local pubs, restaurants and shops, yet once inside the house there is no noise from the road. It is also just a short walk to the Castle, the surrounding hills and commons. More challenging walks are a quick car trip away. We'll be back!
We’ve had a lovely stay and will definitely come back. We thought the cottage was really well presented and looked after, and of course in a wonderful location :-)
We had a lovely stay at Jiggers and had fantastic weather. The cottage is close to the pubs in the village which serve good food and to the well stocked village shop.
We had a great stay at Corfe Castle. Jiggers cottage is perfect, ideally located, very comfortable, very clean, and with everything we might need; the garden must be a real plus in a beautiful season. We enjoyed coming back to Jiggers all the more as we had already stayed there almost 20 years ago when the children were little so it brought back a lot of good memories. Corfe & Purbeck Holidays is a very professional organization; thank you again for allowing us to postpone our trip several times because of the covid pandemic. We hope to come back in some time because we have a close friend who lives in this village which explains why we come back regularly, and we love this region that we know well.
We had a beautiful stay in Jiggers Cottage, it has amazing and cosy rooms, a really nice garden and is in a perfect location. Thank you very much for the uncomplicated booking process. You are a great team!!!
We had a fantastic time at Jiggers. We loved the cottage, it’s gorgeous garden and it’s fabulous position in beautiful Corfe Castle. We were also very lucky with the weather. A perfect holiday thank you.
The communication with Corfe and Purbeck holidays was very helpful and timely. They dealt courteously with our various questions and payment was easy. The cottage itself was delightful, thoughtfully decorated and (importantly at this time) very clean. Corfe Castle is a lovely place to stay with restaurants, beautiful countryside and lovely coastal walks and beaches. We would highly recommend the area, the cottage and Corfe and Purbeck holidays.
We really enjoyed our stay at Jiggers Cottage. It had everything we needed for a lovely stay. The beds and bedding were particularly comfortable. The garden was a real suntrap. Perfect holiday cottage.
The cottage was lovely and very comfortable and did the job perfectly. We're very much looking forward to our return visit.
